Mayor Pelekas Monastery offers various accommodation options to fit the needs of any family and has designed special services for families that will be enjoyed by all their members. Moreover we’ve prepared a 5-day plan to allow you all to rest, rejuvenate and see most of Corfu!
Day 1. Stay at Pelekas Monastery and Relax
So you’ve reached Corfu! Your trip to the island may have exhausted you and all you want is settle in your rooms. This is exactly what you should do then! Take your time, unpack and let the kids decide their beds. If you need you can ask for a baby crib at the front desk and get all the baby staff out. Next thing you should do is walk around the premises and find out what is offered inside Mayor Pelekas Monastery, ask about extra services and see what is offered at the spa or as an extra service. Wear your swimsuit and head to the pools or the beach and enjoy the rest of the day under the sun. If you have plenty of time at your disposal you can visit Pelekas village or even better Kaiser’s Throne, where you have an almost 360 view of Corfu. It’s a perfect spot to watch the sunset, but beware, you won’t be alone.
Day 2. Corfu Town awaits you!
Today is the day you’ll get to explore the beautiful and historic town of Corfu. Gorgeous in its own, the town has countless treasures to discover and its different neighborhoods represent a different phase of urban development. Start your sightseeing opposite “Kanoni”, where you’ll see Pontikonisi and the church of Virgin Mary of Vlachernon. You can’t miss the old town, with its Venetian charm, the old fortress, numerous french/italian and british-style buildings around town, historic museums, the main square of Liston, the church of Agios Spyridon, the patron Saint of the island, the Achillion Palace, kilometers out of the town, designed in honor of the Ancient Greek warrior Achilles for the Austrian princess Sissy in 1890, and the Mon Repos Palace, which now hosts the Archaeological Museum of Palaiopolis.
Day 3. To the Beach, to the beach!
What a perfect day to explore the most famous sight of Corfu: it’s beaches! Begin your journey from Glyfada beach, near Pelekas and head North, following the road. You can stop at whichever beach you like, famous or not, since they’re all amazingly beautiful. Paliokastritsa, Limni, Agios Georgios, Agios Stefanos, Loggas and the picturesque Canal d’ Amour, are all names you’ll probably see over and over again, and only after visiting them you’ll understand why. Almost all beaches in the region are sandy with crystal clear azure waters, perfect for fun and games with the whole family. Reach the charming village of Kassiopi for dinner and enjoy fresh fish and local delights, before returning to the hotel, applying generous portions of after-sun.
Day 4. What about you?
How would you like if you had one day for yourselves? A day to laze around and have others cater to your needs and wishes. Maybe this is that day. While the kids enjoy themselves at the kids club or learning sports, you and your loved one will leave your mobiles in the room and book a set of couple’s spa treatments for the afternoon. Start the day by not doing anything by the pool and continue with a quick swim at the beach. Our free sunbeds are perfect to get tanned, read your favorite book and drink a few cocktails. If you’re feeling a bit hungry you can order a snack from the pool bar and continue your most important aspect of vacationing: relaxation. When it’s time go to the spa, rest assured the kids are alright at the kids pool or with the sitter. The spa is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate and come closer to your other half, while it can act as a restart for most of our bad habits. For dinner , you can use Mayor Peleka’s unique Dine Around Concept that will allow you and your family to explore a plethora of culinary delights at all the available restaurants.
Day Five.
Decide whether you’ll head North or South and explore some more of the island. Angelokastro, in the North and Gardiki Castle in the South are there to find out more about the rich Medieval history of Corfu, that for centuries acted as a barrier between the Ottoman Empire and Western Europe. Shop around Corfu town or visit Kaiser’s Throne if you didn’t get the chance in the first day. How about you visit the Monastery of Palikostritsa or the Doric style St. George's Church right under the Old Fort of the Town? If you’re feeling more adventurous a popular choice is to go South and take a day trip to Paxoi, a small complex of islands that you’ll find blissful villages, authentic tastes and unspoiled beaches, for the whole family to enjoy!
What you do while in Corfu is up to you, but it’s most likely that the Countess of the Ionian will charm her way to your heart and you’ll wish to visit her again. So bare that in mind when you depart, it’s not really farewell, it’s just a goodbye for now and see you soon.
